Among the exceptional speakers at this year's event is Yoky Matsuoka PhD, the renowned scientist who bioengineered an anatomically correct robotic hand. Dr. Matsuoka will present the scientifically rigorous 2011 DeLisa Lecture. There will be three main courses: Course A will focus on the Evolving Health Care Reform: Academic Challenges for Clinical Practice, with the goal of providing academic physiatrists the tools they will need to adapt to the new decade. Course B will present the latest Advances in Rehab Technology within the PM&R specialty; and, Course C, The Role of Physical Activity in Healthcare: Can Physiatrists Respond to an Unmet Need, will be an active event, focusing on the science of physical activity and the necessary skills to write appropriate exercise prescriptions.

The meeting will also highlight the latest research and advances in the field with presentations of original scientific papers and posters. As always, there will be workshops for the Program Coordinators, the Residents and Fellows, and the Residency & Fellowship Program Directors.

The various councils have also created exciting programs based on the specific needs and immediate and long term goald of their members. The Rehabilitation Medicine Scientist Training Program (RMSTP) and the Program for Academic Leadership (PAL) will run concurrently with the meeting.
