MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian car sales are expected to rise to 2.24 million this year from 1.91 million in 2010 as the Russian automotive industry continues its recovery from near meltdown in 2009, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) has said. The AEB said full year 2010 sales rose 30 percent, while December sales were up 60 percent.
Russia's flagship car maker AvtoVAZ, 25% owned by France's Renault, said earlier this week it sold 48% more of its iconic Lada cars last year than in 2009 - boosted by a government sponsored scrappage scheme.
