Description
The premier green chemistry and engineering conference in the United States, this official International Year of Chemistry event will feature more than 20 topic areas presented over three days. Confirmed keynote speakers include Paul Anastas, one of the "Fathers of Green Chemistry", Janine Benyus of The Biomimicry Institute, H. Fisk Johnson of SC Johnson Company, Inc., Ei-ichi Negishi, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and Martyn Poliakoff of the University of Nottingham. Meet and hear from chemists and chemistry students from around the world at this historic joint international conference in Washington, DC. Session topic areas include auto industry, green analytical chemistry, geen solvents, pharmaceutical green chemistry, entrepreneurship, flow reactors, methods for assessing green chemicals and materials, biocatalysis, semiconductors and green chemistry, green chemistry publications, nongovernmental agencies and green chemistry, renewable energy, designing chemicals for low toxicity, and greening formulated consumer products. Also featured will be a full-day workshop for students that attend the conference and a student poster award competition. The conference will close with an interactive outreach event for local school-age children. Other conference features include a vendor showcase and specialized business panel discussions. Also, the US Environmental Protection Agency will present winners of this year's Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award during the conference.
