This two-day conference will bring together the key international scientists working on IL-1 today. Topics will range from an historical perspective on IL-1; the roles of IL-1, IL-18 and IL-33 in the activation of Th17, Th1 and Th2 subsets respectively; the regulation of inflammasomes (particularly Nlrp3); the cryopyrinopathies that cause various familial fevers; the role of IL-36 and IL-37 in the inflammatory process, and the therapeutic targeting of IL-1beta in diseases such as Type 2 diabetes and gout.
The conference will therefore be a compelling mix of scientists who span basic discovery to the clinic. To encourage discussion, we will ensure a relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of time for discussion. We will particularly encourage students and postdocs to participate and show their data. We are therefore anticipating a very special two days, with outstanding science and fun as our two watch-words.
