Every year more than 100,000 adults in the United States lose lower limbs due to vascular disorders. The incidence of peripheral arterial disease continues to grow as the population ages and contributing factors such as diabetes and obesity become more prevalent. Physicians working in a variety of fields increasingly must evaluate patients with peripheral vascular disease. The most serious cases frequently lead to amputation.

Experts remain convinced that the majority of such amputations can be avoided. The Amputation Prevention Symposium offers a concentrated program that covers how to assess and treat advanced lower extremity arterial disease with the goal of saving limbs. Focused exclusively on the periphery, the course brings together authorities who will provide specific, detailed information about proper diagnosis and promising therapies. The Amputation Prevention Symposium will give physicians the knowledge to make critical decisions that ensure the best possible outcome for every patient.
