Program Purpose / Objectives

The purpose of this CME activity is to update practitioners in the current diagnosis and management of allergic and immunologic disorders.

Preliminary Topics and Objectives:

•Drug Allergy: to familiarize the healthcare provider with the difficulties encountered with drug allergies
•Food Allergy: to understand the complexities of immunological reactions to food
•Urticaria: to appreciate the variety of causes of this skin disorder besides allergic reactions
•Angioedema: to develop a differential diagnosis of significant swelling and a treatment plan
•Atopic Dermatitis: to develop an approach to finding exacerbating factors and a treatment plan
•Clinical Significance of Indoor Allergies: to apply the principles of diagnosis and treatment of ubiquitous allergens
•Eosinophillic Esophagitis: to understand the new epidemic of an immunological disorder of the esophagus that may relate to food in some cases
•Anaphylaxis: diagnose and properly treat anaphylaxis
•Allergic Basis for Asthma: recognize those asthmatics in whom allergy is playing an important role
•Resistant Sinusitis: understanding the underlying conditions that result in difficult to manage sinusitis
•Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis: recognize those patients in whom hypersensitivity pneumonitis is the cause of their respiratory difficulties
•Occupational Asthma and Rhinitis: appreciate the work place as an area for rhinitis and asthma
•Asthma in the Elderly: recognize that asthma is a frequent cause of respiratory problems in the elderly
•Interesting Allergy Cases: appreciate the broad spectrum of allergic diseases that come through an allergist’s office

Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.
