The government has made it an absolute priority to return as much power as possible to local government. The introduction of the Localism Bill aims to create a shift in power from central to local government to start an era of people power.

Government Knowledge is pleased to present the Local Government Reform Conference 2011.

This conference will provide delegates the opportunity to hear from and question key policy makers and drivers and we look forward to hearing from invited speaker Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government who will deliver the keynote address at this conference on ‘Empowering Local Government’.

With local government charged with seeking efficiency savings, some estimate that the funding gap due to budgetary constraints will be as much as £20bn by 2014-15. With this in mind, this conference will showcase excellent examples of efficiency savings in back office areas such as procurement, ICT and asset management.

It is vitally important that local government thrives in order to positively the national economy and prosperity. This conference will provide local government stakeholders with the opportunity to network with peers and service providers in order to discuss solutions to create prosperous and sustainable regional strategies that will support a strong local government structure now and in the future.

This event will provide delegates with the opportunity to debate and discuss the key issues around the local government and localism agenda across the UK. With key speakers, high level policy makers & drivers and important stakeholders present, this event is one not to be missed.

At this event, delegates will:

Explore current and future key local government policy changes
Discuss how best to empower communities and achieve effective decentralisation of power
Gain insight into future government policy priorities
Have the opportunity to question key high level figures on issues pertinent to them
Network with peers from across local government as well as external stakeholders
Receive cross sector insight into this important issue

We look forward to welcoming you!
