Surfae Engineering is the most sought term for many engineering application, ranging from a simple wall painting to the aeroplane turbine blade coating, to a hard surface to resist wear and erosion on an auto component. Surface engineering is also known in terms of various types of treatments, which range from painting, electroplating, case hardening, coatings by a host techniques such as PVD, CVD, the spray, laser and ion beam. Another aspect of surface Engineering is in terms of exploration of the surfaces. A large number of techniques, ranging from simple optical microscopy to several electron/ions/photon based techniques such as SEM/EDAX,AES/ESCA,SIMS,AFM,focussed ion beam and several others are available to explore surfaces. Various new demands of preparing surfaces with special fuctionalities, hydrophobic, anti-scratch, anti-graffiti, anti-sticking, dust free stc. such as are coming everyday.
SSPC india for the last several years, concentrated on surface modification based upon paint coatings. in the last eight years, Eight international symposia have been carried out in different parts of the country. These symposia were, well attended, well represented and covered wide spectrum of topics.Latest technologies in paint coatings, new research areas and products were discussed. several new products were also launched based upon the success of these Symposia, SSPC this time thought of widening the scope of the Symposia. We plan this time to include other areas of surface modification also. this year, the symposia. We plan this time to include other areas of surface modification also. This year,the symposia would be carried out in two broad categories : track 1 on organic Paint Coatings and in track 2 which would run parallel, will focus on other surface engineering techniques such as PVD, CVD, thermal spray, laser surface modification and ion-beam based techniques. you are requsted to participate and send your latest work and results at the earliest.
