The Becoming a Medical Educator course is a one-week module of the MSc in Surgical Science and Practice programme. Offered by Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences and the Department for Continuing Educationâ€™s CPD Centre, the week will be led by Mr Tony Jefferis, Head of School of Surgery, South-Central SHA, and will feature face-to-face lectures and tutorials. theory of adult learning
The Becoming a Medical Educator course will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about and discuss the following topics:
evidence on value of different teaching methods
simulation in training; principles of valid assessment
resuscitative and supportive teaching
current syllabus and assessment for surgeons in training
organisation and regulation of UK surgical training
developing a syllabus for trainees in modern programmes
This intensive five-day course is taught at postgraduate-level and may be taken for academic credit or not for credit.
