Description

The Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) will hold its 55th Annual Technical Conference (TechCon) on April 28 – May 3, 2012 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California. The conference will provide a special focus on two of the industry’s hottest topics in the Symposia sessions entitled “Lab to Fab” Vacuum Coating Manufacturing Processes and New Materials and Processes for Photovoltaics Manufacturing.

The TechCon includes a four-day schedule of technical and industry related presentations, a two-day Technology Exhibit featuring over 180 equipment and service providers, and a six-day Education Program of 26 Tutorial Courses. Several social and networking events are scheduled throughout the TechCon program.

The SVC TechCon is a forum for the interchange of information between those engaged in the use and development of vacuum coatings for large- and small-scale applications. In addition to the presentations made in the Symposia sessions, the Technical Program covers the following traditional topics: WebTech Roll-to-Roll Coatings for High-End Applications, Coatings for Cleantech Energy Conversion, Storage and Related Processes, Tribological and Decorative Coating, Emerging Technologies, High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HIPIMS), Vacuum Processes and Coatings for Biomedical Applications, Optical Coating, Large Area Coating, and Plasma Processing. The Heuréka Post-Deadline Recent Developments evening session highlights new research achievements and late-breaking developments for emerging applications. A Poster Session will take place in the Exhibit Hall, featuring visual presentations spanning all aspects of vacuum coating and one-on-one interaction with the poster presenters. Business Topics will be discussed in a special session, and interactive Forum discussions will look into Road Mapping the Future of Thin Film Products and Funding and Tools to Get Your Product to Market. Call for Abstracts deadline is October 14, 2011.

Keynote presentations headlining the Symposia Topics include: Robert Praino, Chasm Technologies, Canton, MA: "Some Implications of 'Nanotech' on Transitioning from Lab to Market" and Eicke Weber, Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, Freiburg, Germany: "New Materials and Processes for Photovoltaics Manufacturing."
