The Third International Conference on Survivors of Rape (ICSoR)
|Event Date/Time: Nov 08, 2012||End Date/Time: Nov 10, 2012|
This is a multi- disciplinary international conference for all those whose work focuses on responding to rape and survivors of rape.
This year, Rape Crisis Network Ireland will be hosting the conference, www.rcni.ie
Our first key speaker is internationally recognised in her field, award winning American Professor of Psychology and Program Evaluation at Michigan State University, Professor Rebecca Campbell, http://vaw.msu.edu/core_faculty/rebecca_campbell/
The aim of the 3rd conference is to deepen our understanding of how survivor needs can inform our practice and knowledge and how an effective multiagency response to sexual violence, which holds a survivor focus at its heart, is created and sustained.
We are particularly interested in exploring issues surrounding:
• How to create and sustain authentic multiagency working
• Responding to survivor's medical and forensic needs
• Effective and ethical recording and use of data on prevalence, perpetrators and survivors of rape
• The role of those responding to survivors of rape in primary prevention
• The role of alcohol in sexual violence
• New approaches to identifying and meeting survivor needs
• Supporting survivors engaging in the criminal justice process
For information on the conference, information on how to submit and abstract, register for the conference or to sign up for updates, visit www.icsor.org.
This conference supports Continuing Professional Development (CPD). ICSoR 2012 will be held in association with UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre and the Global Women's Studies Centre, NUI Galway.
