In a world where governments and commercial organisations demand greater certainty of professional standards and ethics, RICS status is recognised as the mark of professionalism. High quality standards ensure that RICS quantity surveyors stand out as leaders in their field. The Black Book and New Rules of Measurement (NRM) set out the key standards that QS members are expected to follow. They provide greater certainty and consistency in QS processes and reduce the risk of malpractice by eliminating ambiguity. The standards assure clients and other professionals that RICS members are experts in running construction projects efficiently and cost effectively.

This launch event will provide an overview of two new sets of standards: the Black Book and NRM. The Black Book suite covers new chapters on retention and conflict avoidance and dispute resolution. The updated NRM Volume 1 covers order of cost estimating and elemental cost planning and the new NRM volume 2 covers procurement. David Bucknall, Chair of RICS Quantity Surveying and Construction Professional Group, will introduce the event and RICS President See Lian Ong will give the keynote speech.

Stuart Earl, Chair of the NRM Working Group, and Andrew Smith, Chair of the Black Book Working Group, will guide you through the main benefits of these Standards. Don't miss this first opportunity to gain an understanding of the new construction standards, which will be the cornerstone of best practice in quantity surveying.
