Topics and Objectives:
1.Benign Breast Disease- Understanding the spectrum of breast pathology from benign to premalignant to cancer.
2.Diagnosis and treatment of Breast Cancer- Learn how to work up an breast mass and abnormal mammographic finding. Understand current treatment options.
3.Hereditary Cancer Syndromes- Learn to use an algorithm to assess a patients risk of carrying a know hereditary mutation and when genetic counseling and testing is appropriate. Understand risk reduction strategies.( Breast, Ovarian Colorectal, Uterine, melanoma etc. )
4.Thyroid Nodules and Thyroid Cancer- Work up of a thyroid nodule from incidental findings to palpable masses. Understand the treatment of thyroid cancer and hereditary syndromes.
5.Skin Cancer Diagnosis- Be able to recognize visually skin lesions that require biopsy.
6.Diet, Exercise and Cancer- Understand how diet and lifestyle can greatly impact the risk of development of cancer throughout a lifetime.
7.Integrating Holistic Therapies- Gain insight into how holistic therapies can be used in conjunction with western medicine to enhance the treatment of cancer.
Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.
