1.Natural Medicines: Finding trustworthy, evidence-based information and recommending safe and effective products
Upon completion the participants will be able to:
â—¦Discuss at least one evidence-based, up-to-date source of information on natural medications (herbs, vitamins, and supplements).
â—¦Discuss at least one source of independent quality testing of natural medications.
â—¦Discuss one or two case presentations of the most commonly purchased natural medications used in the U.S.
2.Natural Medicines for Osteoporosis: An evidence-based approach (with special emphasis on the calcium and vitamin D controversies)
Upon completion the participants will be able to:
â—¦Describe several natural medications used for osteoporosis,
â—¦Summarize the evidence supporting or refuting the use of magnesium, calcium, vitamin D, and ipriflavones in osteoporosis.
3.Natural Medicines for Osteoarthritis: An evidence-based approach (with special emphasis on the glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM controversies)
Upon completion the participants will be able to:
â—¦Describe several natural medications used for arthritis symptoms,
â—¦Describe the evidence supporting or refuting the use of glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM in osteoarthritis.
4.Natural Medicines for Menopause: An evidence-based approach (with special emphasis on the bioidentical hormone controversies)
Upon completion the participants will be able to:
â—¦Describe several natural medications used for menopausal symptoms,
â—¦Describe the evidence supporting or refuting the use of bioidentical hormones for menopausal symptoms.
â—¦Describe the evidence supporting or refuting the use of black cohosh, soy protein, and flaxseed in menopausal symptoms.
5.Natural Medicines for Hyperlipidemia: An evidence-based approach (with special emphasis on the niacin and red yeast rice controversies)
Upon completion the participants will be able to:
â—¦Describe several natural medications used for hyperlipidemia symptoms,
â—¦Describe the evidence supporting or refuting the use of fish oil, niacin, red yeast rice, or stanols/sterols in hyperlipidemia.
6.Natural Medicines for Headache: An evidence-based approach (with special emphasis on migraine prevention)
Upon completion the participants will be able to:
â—¦Describe several natural medications used for headache,
â—¦Describe the evidence supporting or refuting the use of coenzyme Q10, feverfew, magnesium, and butterbur for headache.
7.Natural Medicines for Depression: An evidence-based approach (with special emphasis on SAMe and St. John's wort)
Upon completion the participants will be able to:
â—¦Describe several natural medications used for depression,
â—¦Describe the evidence supporting or refuting the use of SAMe, St. John's Wort, EPA, and fish oil for depression.

Conference Sessions generally take place during the days at sea (as cruise itinerary allows) to avoid conflicts with Ports of Call or evening entertainment.
