Additional Information

This event features a notable line-up: • Government technology research and regulatory leaders sharing their views on recent trends & policy directions • International and regional Operators sharing recent experiences with deployment of 4G networks, as they migrate from their legacy 3G/2G networks or kick-start their LTE networks as a greenfield network • Industry suppliers and designers shedding light on product & usage models, new applications & innovations As at March 2012, 242 firm commercial LTE network deployments are either in deployment, commercially launched or are planned in 81 countries. Another 59 operators in 14 additional countries are engaged in LTE technology trials, tests and studies. 57 LTE operators have launched commercial services, 40% higher than a year ago. Commercial LTE services are now available in 32 countries. By the end of 2012, it is expected there will be about 128 LTE commercial network launches. Circumventing spectrum allocation hurdles, deploying LTE in re-farmed spectrum, particularly 1800 MHz, is increasingly attractive for operators. In addition, there is the growing international acceptance of LTE TDD mode, five LTE TDD networks are commercially launched this year; numerous deployments and trials are underway or planned in other markets across the world including China, India, Australia, Malaysia, the Middle East, Russia, Africa, South America and many Asian markets. In Taiwan, the government has approved plans to commence the 4G auction process in 2013, with 4G licenses to be issued by June 2014. The auction will be for spectrum in either the 700-MHz or 2.6-GHz bands, coupled with spectrum in the 900-MHz and 1,800-MHz band re-farmed from 2G operations. This Forum will be a unique platform for telecom regulators, operators, OEMs, ODDs, chip vendors, content providers, device companies, technology enablers, small cell manufacturers, investors, equipment manufacturers and telecom solution providers from Asia, USA, Europe, the Middle East, particularly those currently in the 2G or 3G space planning to migrate to 4G, to strategise to improve their future competitiveness, look for vendor-operator partnerships and new orders! Some hot topics to be addressed include: • 4G Network and Device Implementation and Market Trends • Back-haul requirement: What works to keep up with growing BB demand • The use of femtocell to augment BB traffic demands. Preparing for take-off of small cells • New 4G / LTE rollouts in Asia - Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Philippines, etc... What's next? • The evolving Taiwan 4G space • Strategic spectrum planning and allocation for 4G: 800MHz, 2.6GHz, 450MHz bands - new auctions, re-farming, spectrum harmonization, what else to expect in the next 12 months? • Regulatory and IPR Environment Status and Conflicts • Regulatory needs to achieve Spectrum re-farming and aggregation • Convergence between Internet, Mobile, Consumer Electronics and Computing • 4G LTE auto-roaming challenges, opportunities and options • MM2M new opportunities • Best Practices in 4G & transitioning to 4G • 5G in the making
