6th Neurodegenerative Conditions Research and Development (NDC)
|Event Date/Time: Sep 13, 2012||End Date/Time: Sep 14, 2012|
The drug discovery effort for neurodegenerative diseases has been one of the major challenges and focuses of the pharmaceutical industry, which has been evidenced by fast and dynamic research and development in this field. Though several clinical trials for Alzheimer's failed in the last couple of years, there has been great progress in the development of novel therapeutic approaches and targets to treat Alzheimer’s as well as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, multiple sclerosis, stroke and various other neurodegenerative diseases. Some of these novel approaches include biomarkers, stem cell therapy, protein misfolding and aggregation, immunotherapy, vaccines for Alzheimer's, BACE inhibitors, and much more. There have also been significant developments in our understanding of the genetics, the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways contributing to neuronal dysfunction, neurotoxicity and pathology.
At GTC’s 6th Neurodegenerative Conditions Research and Development, leading scientists and experts will discuss the latest breakthroughs, new drug targets, new models, the development of new biomarkers, imaging modalities, and several other novel developments and therapeutics to combat neurodegenerative conditions.
