The IET A F Harvey Engineering Research prize is awarded annually, honouring an exceptional individual researcher for their outstanding achievements and promising future research. This has been made possible by the generous legacy of IET member Dr Arthur Frank Harvey.
Professor Ed Boyden
Professor Ed Boyden has been awarded the prize for his pioneering research contributions to the field of optogenetics. The research he will undertake with the prize money is focused on exploiting his advances in optogenetics to detect and suppress epileptic seizures. The IET will celebrate in London on 19th June 2012 at 18.30, where Professor Boyden will be presented with his prize from Lord Winston, Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies at Imperial College, and give a lecture about his research. The lecture is free to attend, and there will be drinks and networking opportunities after the lecture.
