Description
The course is limited to 20 participants to enable each attendee to receive extensive, individualised
training. The instruction incorporates lectures, detailed handouts, video demonstrations and
microvascular skills practice.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should:
• Understand the basic techniques and concepts of microsurgery
• Understand the basics of nerve repair
They should be able to:
• Use an operating microscope proficiently
• Perform basic microvascular anastomoses
(end-to-end arterial, end-to-end venous, end-to-side vascular anastomosis and interpositional vein grafts)
• Perform nerve coaptation
• Perform a free flap transfer in a rat model
