The symposium addresses gaps in knowledge, practice, and competence, and is designed to present the most recent information on clinical practice issues facing anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists. The faculty will provide an update on ENT, urologic, cardiovascular, and regional anesthesiology, as well as management of the difficult airway and acute pain management. Issues with technology anesthesia will be addressed.
Learning activities will be presented in several formats, including traditional lectures, workshops, and case discussions. Airway Management, Lung Isolation, and Rescue Applications for Transthoracic Echocardiography workshops will be presented in didactic and hands-on workshop formats. The symposium will be certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Creditâ„¢ with approximately 200 attendees anticipated.
â€¢ Critically review new information regarding anesthesia for ENT surgery;
â€¢ Formulate anesthesia management plans for patients with difficult or abnormal airways;
â€¢ Integrate ultrasound into regional anesthesia techniques;
â€¢ Discuss new options for anesthetic management issues for surgical patients with renal or urologic disease;
â€¢ Review peripheral regional anesthesia techniques;
â€¢ Recognize the current state of acute pain management and potential complications;
â€¢ Identify current anesthetic management issues for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery;
â€¢ Discuss current issues regarding technology in anesthesia.
