In our last webinar in January 2012, we discussed the "data tsunami" approaching the utilities. This webinar will zoom in on the role of the geospatial information systems within the Smart Grid Roadmap.

Within Smart grid it is all about extracting/ collating key grid and customer information for a certain location and its surrounding to quickly get situation area status awareness and to be able to respond or even automatically anticipate to events that might disrupt grid performance.

GIS can function as the enabler that can link operational activities like:

1. planning & design
2. asset management
3. workforce management
4. outage management
5. supervisory control
6. data acquisition (SCADA)
7. distribution management systems (DMSs)
8. renewable
9. strategy planning.

Geospatial Information Systems are part of any utilities smart grid journey. We will share best practise by means of utility customer reference stories in the field of geospatial network management and the integration of operation technology.
