Terahertz (THz) radiation, or "T-rays", lie between the infrared and microwave regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. T-rays allow the sensing of objects by both traditional means of reflection (imaging) and by being able to transmit or look through an object. Recent advances in transmitter and receiver technology are paving the way for dynamic growth of a commercial and military terahertz industry. The applications are limitless – from standoff detection of chemical and biological agents, to luggage screening, non-destructive testing of air and spacecraft, non-invasive medical diagnostics, farspace telescopes, industrial process control, broadband communications…and more.

This outstanding two day conference brings together the key experts in THz research, development and application. They will give you a thorough grounding in the concepts of THz technology, provide you with a comprehensive picture of what key government agencies and laboratories are doing to expand R&D in THz systems and technologies, identify what needs to be done to develop the infrastructure for THz commercialization, examine many of the emerging THz applications, look at important THz breakthroughs, and evaluate the current technical capabilities, and near-term challenges of THz systems.
