Materials are essential for the economic growth of any country. They provide support to the down-stream industries and the entire industrial development of the nation. Maximization of the use of materials would result in an increase of the added value as new products could be obtained from the materials and its processing intermediates. During the last two decades, new technologies have been developed in the areas of material processing which allow its utilization in advanced applications. However, the intermediates require further purification to produce advanced materials for advanced industrial applications. Scientific collaboration among scientists from a variety of disciplines can help in better understanding of the material processing and utilization. R&D should focus on developing cost effective techniques to develop and utilize materials for solving the problems facing the world during the new millennium such as energy, environment, climate change, food and water supply.
In this regard, the International Conference on Material Imperatives in the New Millennium (MINM 010) has been initiated by the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI), Cairo, Egypt to share experience and exchange views between scientists allover the world.
On the regional level, CMRDI being a base of the Arab Association of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology, will arrange during the conference a regional meeting of the association to identify areas of the mutual cooperation between members and non-member countries, consequently the conference will be a good forum for coordination of joint efforts.
This conference will provide a good chance for participants to discuss and present the recent advances in processing technologies of materials and their subsequent manufacturing for production of ready-to-use products. The conference will be also an excellent opportunity for interaction and networking among participants for future collaboration.

The conference will deal with the following topics:
- Nanostructured materials.
- Processing of materials and intermediates for advanced applications .
- Fabrication of materials to produce ready-to-use products.
- Thin film and surface processing.
- Energy generation, harvesting and storage materials.
- Smart and biomaterials.
- Biomedical materials and implants
- Advanced high temperature structural materials.
- Advanced polymers and metal- organic framework materials.
- Catalysis and gas sensing.
- Advanced ceramic materials.
- Composite and hybrid materials.
- Electronic and magnetic materials.
- Powder and particles engineering.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts (200 words) on the above topics by August 15th 2010.

The official language of the conference is English which will be used for presentations and printed materials. Video projectors and PCs will be available for oral presentations. The time for oral lecture is 20 minutes (including 5 minutes for discussion) whereas the time for keynote lecture is 40 minutes.
Posters will be scheduled in the poster session. The poster authors are requested to prepare their presentations in 100 cm length x 70 cm height. The poster authors should be available near their poster at the time of poster session.

The participation fee is US$ 600. This fee covers admission to the conference sessions, printed materials kit, refreshments and lunches during the 4 days of the conference.
•Egyptians from academia and industry are given a discounted fee of 950 L.E.
